BEST OF ROCHESTER 2011!!

The people of Rochester have spoken, and they've voted WELCOME TO SWEETSVILLE one of the top four art exhibits for 2011! It's a ridiculous honor when you see who we were up against!

And one of our own, Sarah C. Rutherford, made it into the BEST LOCAL ARTIST category yet again! She's been on a tear ever since she got to Rochester, it's time for her to get her due!

Please take a few moments and vote for Sweat Meat Co and Sarah Rutherford in CITY paper's BEST OF 2011 Ballot!

Welcome to Sweetsville - only one more day to see it!

The WELCOME TO SWEETSVILLE event was amazing, thank you to everyone for coming out. Our friend Goatmouth Studio documented the event for us, you can see her photos on Facebook:

You can still see our process shots on this blog and on Pictured.

We'll open the gates to Sweetsville one last time this Saturday, July 2, from 9am - 3pm, and after that, Sweetsville will be no more. Thank you to everyone who has supported us, and we'll be posting up a pickup time in just a few days (with plenty of time to plan for it!)

We want to give a huge thanks to Jenn, Hannah, Angie, Justyn, Steve, Mary, Jordan, Jenna, Austin, Felix, and everyone else who helped us make Friday night such a great event. Hopefully we didn't miss your name!

You can read a review of the show in this week's CITY paper:

A quest for boxes.

A few shots from our quest for boxes/materials this past monday.  A big thank you to Brandon Colaprete  who led the way to this box gold mine!  We are still in need of materials (boxes, windows, plywood, cool old treasures, rusty objects, etc) so give us a holler if you have a stash that you'd like to donate in the name of art!

Back at it!

Hello Rochester!  Its official - Sweet Meat Co. is back at it!  After a wonderful turn out and response from our inaugural show in January 2010 and a year filled with individual and collaborative showings, the whole gang is together again to put on our second official art extravaganza! We have found a space in the public market and will be working there for the next month.  Mark your calenders:
Friday, June 24th 2011!
